No. There are no aWallet servers and no account. Your vault is encrypted on your device and stored there, plus, only if you enable sync, in your own cloud storage (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or your WebDAV server) as an encrypted file.
If you unlock with Face ID or your fingerprint (Pro), you can still get in: unlock with biometrics and set a new master password. That is why aWallet suggests turning biometrics on first. A Recovery Key (Pro to create, free to use) covers the cases biometrics cannot, such as a new phone: create it in Settings ▸ Security ▸ Recovery Key and keep it somewhere safe. Without either, your data is unrecoverable, by design: there is no backdoor, no reset and no recovery server.
Every 14 days aWallet asks for the master password once, so you do not forget a password you rarely type. If you cannot remember it, you can still unlock with biometrics; aWallet then suggests changing the password to one you will remember. The check can be turned off in Settings ▸ Security ▸ Master Password Check.
No, and that is by design. Your password does not encrypt the data directly; it encrypts a small random key that does. Changing the password re-wraps just that key. Full explanation on the security page.
Never. Only the first five characters of a SHA-1 hash are sent, a bucket shared with thousands of other passwords. Matching happens on your device, and results are cached locally in an encrypted file.
They are stored differently: the system keychain binds passkeys to one ecosystem; aWallet stores them inside your encrypted vault, protected by Argon2id and your master password. That is what makes them portable between iOS and Android and independent of any one vendor. Both are phishing-resistant passkeys.
Yes, fully, on the file format page. No secret sauce, no lock-in; you could write your own reader.
No, not for what you already bought. aWallet Next recognizes the original app's purchase on the same device and honors it: cloud sync and biometric unlock for aWallet Cloud, biometric unlock for Pro inside aWallet. One rule: keep the original app installed on that device. If you remove it, aWallet Next goes back to the free tier at its next start; reinstall it and the honor returns. Details in Upgrading.
Yes, once the original app is installed on that phone as well (a free re-download on the same App Store or Google Play account). The honor is per device and per platform; an Android purchase does not unlock the iOS app or the other way round.
Everything you stored. Viewing, editing, deleting, copying, CSV import and export, the generator and unlimited entries are never locked. You lose cloud sync, AutoFill, biometric unlock, attachments, live 2FA codes, tags, passkeys and the full Security Center; your data stays fully accessible.
Yes for your devices: a subscription restores on every device signed into the same App Store or Google Play account. In the App Store, Family Sharing is enabled too, so up to five family members get Pro as well.
Yes. Subscribe once, in the App Store or in Google Play, and Pro works on your iPhone, iPad and Android devices. In Settings ▸ Subscription, sign in with Apple or Google on the device where you subscribed, then with the same account on your other devices. Use the same sign-in everywhere: Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google are separate accounts, even with the same email. Signing in only links your subscription; your vault is never sent anywhere and still opens only with your master password.
iCloud Drive (iOS only), Google Drive, Dropbox and any WebDAV server (Synology and QNAP NAS, Nextcloud, Koofr, pCloud and others). Or no cloud at all.
Only when you connect a WebDAV server that lives on your home network, such as a NAS. iOS and recent Android versions require this permission for any connection to a local address. Internet clouds never need it.
Yes. The encrypted vault file is identical on both platforms. Sync it through Google Drive, Dropbox or WebDAV and both phones open the same vault with the same master password.
Install aWallet Next on the same phone and tap Import on the welcome screen. See Upgrading.
Always. Settings ▸ Vault ▸ Export Data to CSV writes your whole vault as plain files, on the free tier too.
As separate encrypted files, each with its own key, in the app's private storage and, if sync is on, in an awallet_attachments folder in your cloud. Attachments are a Pro feature.
Completely. Sync happens when a connection is available; everything else never needs one.
